In the biggest race of the weekend - the Grade 3 $400,000 Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack - it was Vyjack that made it four straight wins with an impressive 2 1/4 length win.
Santa Anita Park hosted the Grade 2 $200,000 San Carlos Stakes for older horses on Saturday. Sahara Sky posted his second straight Grade 2 win by three quarters of a length at 6-1 odds.
Data Link did what many expected on Saturday - he won the Grade 3 $150,000 Canadian Turf Stakes at Gulfstream in come-from-behind fashion. Sent off as the heavy favorite in the Canadian Turf, Data Link finished a length ahead of the field for his second straight graded stakes win.
It was Live Lively that raced to victory in the Grade 2 Davona Dales Stakes at Gulfstream on Saturday. The 2-1 second choice registered a 1 1/2 length win in her stakes debut for her third straight win overall finishing ahead of 9-10 favorite Dreaming of Julia, the reigning third place finisher in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. Private Ensign was another 5 3/4 lengths back in third while Lady banks was fourth and Twice Told Tale trailed in the small field of five.
In arguably the most important race of the weekend, the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park for Kentucky Derby hopefuls, Shug McGaughey's fast improving, 5-1 second choice Orb earned his first stakes win in his first stakes start and along the way earned a valuable 50 points on the "Road to the Kentucky Derby".
