Alterite Wins Garden City Stakes at Belmont Park
Las Vegas, NV - Belmont Park in Elmont, New York hosted the $500,000 Grade 1 Garden City Stakes this past Saturday, September 14 - a 1 1/8 mile turf test for three year old fillies. French bred filly Alterite made it a North American debut to remember posting the impressive 1 1/2 length win as the 3-1 second choice while a four horse photo finish determined the next four finishers. 5-2 favorite Discreet Marq finished second while British import Concise was third. Watsdachances finished fourth, a head behind Concise, with Summer of Fun a nose back in fifth. Then came Precarious, Caroline Thomas, Emollient, With Sugar On Top, and Praia. Effie Trinket scratched.
