Flat Out continued his dominance of the New York track recording his fifth win in six starts at Belmont and his second win in the Suburban - becoming the third horse in history with multiple Suburban wins. He won by a rather comfortable 2 1/2 lengths as the even money favorite. Last Gunfighter, who had won his last six races was the 7-5 second choice and got up by a nose for second over Fast Falcon. Alpha and the pacesetting Percussion completed the order of finish.
