Riposte Wins Sheepshead Bay Stakes at Belmont Park
Las Vegas, NV - The $200,000 Grade 2 Sheepshead Bay Stakes was contested on Belmont Park turf on Saturday, May 24. Bill Mott trained Riposte posted a 1 3/4 lengths victory at 5-2 odds. Second choice Abaco, after slipping at the start got up for a good second while Irish Mission finished third. 2-1 favorite Fitful Skies finished a rather disappointing fourth while Caroline Thomas and Modernstone completed the order of finish. Viva Rafaela scratched. Belle Gallantey, Flash Forward, and Lady Cohiba were entered for the main track only.
