American Pharoah Wins Belmont Stakes & Triple Crown
Las Vegas, NV - All eyes were on Belmont Park in Elmont, New York on Saturday, June 6 when the $1.5 million Belmont Stakes was run. Those eyes weren't disappointed - the 37 year wait for a Triple Crown winner is over - 7-10 favorite American Pharoah thrilled the crowd and finally accomplished the seemingly impossible - winning for the third time in five weeks and becoming the 12th winner of the elusive Triple Crown. Pharoah easily bested the field of eight by 5 1/2 lengths in the fastest time in this race since 2001. Frosted finished second as the 4-1 second choice with longshot Keen Ice rallying for third at 17-1 on the morning line. Mubtaahij hung on to finish fourth, 7 1/2 lengths in front of Frammento, Madefromlucky, Tale of Verve, and Materiality.
