Greenpointcrusader Wins Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park
Las Vegas, NV - The $500,000 Grade 1 Champagne Stakes was contested at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York on Saturday, October 3 - a one mile race for two year olds. St. Elias Stable, MeB Racing Stables, and Brooklyn Boyz Stables' 5-1 shot Greenpointcrusader posted the decisive 4 1/2 length win in the field of eight and in turn earned an automatic spot in the Breeders' Cup Sentient Jet Juvenile Oct. 31 at Keeneland. 20-1 outsider Sunny Ridge was second and Portfolio Manager finished third at 12-1 on the morning line. Sail Ahoy finished fourth followed by second pick Tale Of S'avall, 3-1 favorite Ralis in sixth, Magna Light and Ready Dancer. Rafting scratched.
