Slumber Wins Manhattan Stakes at Belmont Park
Las Vegas, NV - Belmont Park in Elmont, New York played host to the $1 million Grade 1 Knob Creek Manhattan Stakes on Saturday, June 6 - a 1 1/4 mile turf test for older horses. Chad Brown trained 15-1 shot Slumber got a late kick under jockey Irad Ortiz Jr., pulling away from a well-matched field of 11 by 2 3/4 lenghts - one race before the Belmont Stakes. Another Chad Brown pupil - favored Big Blue Kitten ran second for owners Ken and Sarah Ramsey while longshot Legendary finished third at 30-1 on the morning line. Finnegans Wake was fourth followed by Magic Artist, War Dancer, Twilight Eclipse, Hyper, Jack Milton, Biz The Nurse and General A Rod.
