Abel Tasman Wins Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park
Belmont Park in Elmont, New York was the scene of the $700,000 G1 Acorn Stakes on Saturday, June 10. Three-year-old fillies took to Belmont Park's dirt track and raced one mile. Bob Baffert trained 2-1 race favorite Abel Tasman proved once again that she is a force to be reckoned with in her division with a last-to-first rally and eventual one length score. Salty, who was also sent off at 2-1 made a strong bid but settled for second in the field of seven while 6-1 fourth choice Benner Island was 4 1/2 lengths in third. 7-2 third choice Sweet Loretta was fourth while Union Strike, Nikki My Darling, and Florida Fabulous completed the order of finish.
