Moreno Wins Charles Town Classic at Charles Town Races
Las Vegas, NV - West Virginia's Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races was the scene of the biggest race of the weekend - the $1.5 million Charles Town Classic. It also produced perhaps the biggest story in 2015 thoroughbred racing so far. Multiple grade I winner, victor in 10 of 11 career starts and 1-5 overwhelming favorite Shared Belief failed to finish, eased by Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith after Smith detected something in the way he was moving. That paved the way for 7-1 second choice Moreno, last year's third place finisher to take the 1 1/8 mile test by two lengths over Imperative who was sent off at 31-1 odds and 33-1 shot Page McKenney. Vyjack finished fourth while General a Rod, the second choice at 5-1, finished a non-threatening fifth, Looking Cool, Street Babe and pacesetter Warrioroftheroses completed the order of finish.
