Las Vegas, NV - The $200,000 Grade 2 Del Mar Handicap was contested on Saturday, August 24 - a 1 3/8 mile turf test for horses three years old and upward. 2-1 favorite and two time group 3 winner in France Vagabond Shoes posted victory in the mediocre field by a half length over another French import - 5-2 second choice Lucayan. In turn Vagabond Shoes earned an automatic berth into the Breeders Cup Turf in November. Huntsville, the longest shot in the field at 31-1 odds finished a very good third. Old Time Hockey was fourth followed by Fire With Fire and Mr T Bird. Holding Glory who is also entered in the Pacific Classic scratched.
