Big John B Wins Cougar II Handicap at Del Mar
Las Vegas, NV - The $100,000 Grade 3 Cougar II Handicap was contested Friday, July 24 from Del Mar Race Track in Southern California - a 1 1/2 mile dirt race for older horses. Michael House's turf specialist, 3-1 third choice Big John B posted the victory on an unfamiliar surface by a half length over 12-1 longshot Bailoutbobby. Favored Sky Kingdom, off at 6-5 in his third attempt to win the Cougar II, was 4 1/2 lengths back in third. Lideris finished fourth, followed by Cat Burglar, to complete the order of finish. Point Piper and Solid Wager were scratched.
