Klimt Wins Del Mar Futurity at Del Mar Race Track
The $300,000 Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity went down Labor Day Monday, September 5 at Del Mar Race Track in Del Mar California. A nice group of two year olds took to Del Mar's dirt track and ran seven furlongs. Kaleem Shah's, Bob Baffert trained 5-2 second choice Klimt was much the best on the day in earning his second straight stakes win and first Grade 1 score - by 4 1/4 lengths. 4-5 favorite Straight Fire held for second in the field of six with 11-1 shot Midnight Pleasure claiming third. Dynamic Ruler was fourth with Vegas Itch and 3-1 third choice Chasing Aces completing the order of finish. Chasing Aces was pulled up and eventually vanned off - reports are that he sustained a leg injury in the race.
