Metaboss Wins El Camino Real Derby at Golden Gate Fields
Las Vegas, NV - The $200,000 Grade 3 El Camino Real Derby was contested on Golden Gate's Tapeta track on Saturday, February, 14. Jeff Bonde trained Metaboss provided the upset win at 6-1 odds and in turn earned 10 qualifying points toward the Kentucky Derby in May. California Derby winner Cross the Line came on late for second at 5-1 odds, with 9-5 favorite Conquest Typhoon, the only graded stakes winner in the field of 10 finishing third. Harmonic finished half a length farther back in fourth, followed by Soul Driver, Stand and Salute, Mischief Clem, Ernest Shackleton, Indianaughty, and Donji.
