Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park Results
Las Vegas, NV - Three year old Kentucky Derby hopefuls were featured in the $1 million Grade 1 Florida Derby this past Saturday - just one of two Derby qualification races on North American soil this weekend. 5-2 third choice - Shug McGaughey trained Orb came up with the impressive 2 3/4 length win in the race to earn the 100 points and seize the overall lead on the Road to the Kentucky Derby with 150. 8-5 favorite Itsmyluckyday finished second and earned 40 points and Merit Man came in for third garnering 20 points while 99-1 shot Narvaez finished fourth and collected 10 points in the process. Highly regarded Todd Pletcher pupil Shanghai Bobby was the disappointment of the race finishing fifth. He was followed by Pick of the Litter, Frac Daddy, Are You Kidding Me, Indy's Illusion, and Pontiff.
