Sr. Quisqueyano Wins Sunshine Millions Classic at Gulfstream Park
Las Vegas, NV - Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida played host to the listed $250,000 Sunshine Millions Classic on Saturday, January 17. Looch Racing Stables owned and trainer Peter Walder trained Sr. Quisqueyano pulled off the upset win in the 1 1/16 mile test at 20-1 odds. East Hall, who had won the Grade 2 Indiana Derby and Millions Classic Preview in his two previous starts, finished second, a half-length behind the winner with Catholic Cowboy, the winner of the Claiming Crown Jewel last time out, finished third, another 1 ΒΌ lengths back. Transparent, the 3-2 favorite, was a disappointing fourth with Wildcat Red, the 8-5 second choice ridden by Joel Rosario fifth. I'm Steppin' It Up checked in last.
