Wake Forest Wins Mac Diarmida Stakes at Gulfstream Park
Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida played host to the $200,000 G2 Mac Diarmida Stakes on Saturday, March 4. Horses four years old and upward took to Gulfstream's turf track and raced 1 3/8 miles. 2-1 favorite Wake Forest returned to his winning ways, getting up late to claim victory by just a head. 9-1 shot Patterson Cross also made a late run and finished second in the field of 11 with 29-1 longshot Reporting Star another neck back in third. 4-1 second choice Bigger Picture was fourth while Mr Maybe, Danish Dynaformer, Flatlined, Charming Kitten, Watershed, Twilight Eclipse and Smooth Daddy completed the order of finish. Taghleeb scratched.
