Academic Wins British Columbia Derby at Hastings Racecourse
Las Vegas, NV - Hastings Racecourse in Vancouver, British Columbia Canada saw the 2015 edition of the $250,000 Grade 3 British Columbia Derby take place on Sunday, September 13. It was Bear Stable and Riversedge Racing Stables' filly Academic that bested her male counterparts for the second race in a row - by a neck as the overwhelming 2-5 favorite. Pacesetter and 9-2 third choice Bluegrass Angus was second while 3-1 second pick Blue Dancer got up for third. Percy Fawcett closed to finish fourth, followed by Sedin, Mighty Fraser, Crius, and Purple Heaven, to complete the order of finish. Merlot was scratched.
