Brody's Cause Wins Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland
The $1 million Grade 1 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes went down at Keeneland Racetrack in Lexington, Kentucky on Saturday, April 9 - a 1 1/8 mile Road to the Kentucky Derby dirt test for three year olds hoping to qualify for the Run for the Roses in four weeks time. Dale Romans trained 4-1 shot Brody's Cause bested the full field of 14 by 1 3/4 lengths and in turn earned 100 qualifying points toward the Derby. My Man Sam who was sent off at 9-2 got second and earned 40 qualifying points while Cherry Wine was third and claimed a 20 valuable points at 9-1 odds. Laoban claimed 10 points with his fourth place finish. Star Hill was fifth followed by Goats Town, Lookin for a Kiss, Donegal Moon, Crescent Drive, Cards of Stone, Zapperini, 2-1 favorite Zulu, American Dubai and Twizz to complete the order of finish. Hint of Roses and Pinson scratched.
