La Coronel Wins Jessamine Stakes at Keeneland Race Course
The $150,000 G3 JPMorgan Jessamine Stakes was contested Wednesday, October 12 at Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky - a 1 1/16 mile turf test for two year old fillies. John Oxley's 9-5 race favorite La Coronel made it look easy and prevailed by 4 1/4 lengths in the field of 12 and earned a berth in the $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf to be run Nov. 4 at Santa Anita. Lull finished second as the 5-1 third choice, 1 3/4 lengths in front of 84-1 longshot Rum Go who got in for third. 2-1 second choice Sweeping Paddy finished another 1 1/2 lengths back in fourth and was followed in order by Majestic Bonnie, Liberale (FR), Tapa Tapa Tapa, Lipstick City, Majestic Gale, Wicked Lick, Zero Zee and Divine Humor to complete the order of finish. Queen Del Valle and Senora Acero scratched.
