Pegasus Stakes at Monmouth Park Results
Las Vegas, NV - Monmouth Park on the Jersey Shore hosted the $150,000 Grade 3 Pegasus Stakes on Sunday, June 16, a 1 1/8 mile race for three year olds and an important prep for the $1 million Haskell Invitational later this summer. The race was supposed to be a showdown between a pair of Triple Crown threats Verrazano and Preakness Stakes runner-up Itsmyluckyday but the former was scratched due to precautionary reasons prior to the race. It was Verrazano, the 2-5 pick that took advantage and recorded the victory. Reporting Star, ridden by Angel Serpa, finished 4 1/4 lengths clear in second while Bethel, with Brian Pedroza aboard, was third. Gefest trailed.
