Tapiture Wins West Virginia Derby at Mountaineer Racetrack
Las Vegas, NV - Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort played host to the $750,000 Grade 2 West Virginia Derby on Saturday, August 2. Close 9-5 second choice Tapiture emerged victorious despite having a rough trip and eventually losing a shoe - winning by a nose over a very determined 8-5 morning line favorite Candy Boy. Vicar's In Trouble finished third followed by Classic Giacnroll who ran fourth. For Goodness Sake was fifth, followed by Divine View, Key for Success, and Only I Know. Gold Appointment was a stewards' scratch.
