World Approval Wins Dixie Stakes at Pimlico
The $250,000 G2 Dixie Stakes went down Saturday, May 20 at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. Horses three years old and upward were featured when they took to Pimlico's turf track and raced 1 1/16 miles. Live Oak Plantation's homebred, slight 5-2 race favorite World Approval utilized a perfect stalking trip and prevailed by a comfortable 2 1/4 lengths. 7-2 co-second choice Projected finished a good second in the field of 10, 2 1/4 lengths in front of third-place finisher Blacktype, who was sent off at 4-1 odds. Catapult was fourth with Talk Show Man, One Mean Man, Security Risk, Conquest Typhoon, Top of Mind and 7-2 Ring Weekend completing the order of finish.
