London Bridge Wins Breeders' Cup Marathon at Santa Anita Park
Las Vegas, NV - The $500,000 Grade 2 Breeders' Cup Marathon kicked off Breeders' Cup weekend at Santa Anita Friday, November 1 - a 1 3/4 mile test for horses three years old and upward. British invader London Bridge bid his time and chased down the weakening early leaders to post victory at 9-1 odds. 7-1 shot Blueskiesnrainbows finished a good second while Worldly finished third, followed by Suns Out Guns Out, Indian Jones, Old Time Hockey, Pool Play, Commander, and Cease. Ever Rider, the 9-2 favorite and a stakes winner in Argentina in June, was eased with a half-mile remaining and did not finish.
