Wise Dan Wins Breeders' Cup Mile at Santa Anita Park
Las Vegas, NV - The $2 million Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Mile took place at Santa Anita Saturday, November 2 and for the second year in a row it was Wise Dan, after stumbling at the start that claimed victory, strengthening his case for Horse of the Year honors for the second straight year. Heavily favored Wise Dan, ridden by Jose Lezcano, beat 18-1 shot Za Approval by three-quarters of a length, with Silentio at 31/1 odds another three-quarters back in third. Silver Max finished fourth, followed by Obviously, Not Jet Lag, Cristoforo Colombo, He Be Fire N Ice, Olympic Glory, and Bright Thought.
