Karakontie Wins Breeders' Cup Mile at Santa Anita Park
Las Vegas, NV - The $2 million Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Mile took place on Santa Anita turf on Saturday, November 1 - a race that was sadly lacking the presence to the great Wise Dan. Japanese bred 30-1 shot Karakonite utilized a tremendous stretch run and surprised the field and won by one length. Irish bred Anodin finished second at 11-1 odds with British-bred Trade Storm, winner of the Woodbine Mile in September, third by another length at 20-1. Summer Front finished fourth followed by 4-1 second choice Obviously, Mustajeeb, Tom's Tribute, Irish bred 2-1 favorite Toronado in eighth, Seek Again, Kaigun, Grand Arch, Veda, Tourist and Sayaad.
