Candy Boy Wins Robert B. Lewis Stakes at Santa Anita Park
Las Vegas, NV - Seven three year olds took to Santa Anita's main track to contest the $200,000 Grade 2 Robert B. Lewis Stakes on Saturday, February 8. 2-1 second choice Candy Boy, with Gary Stevens aboard, served notice that he is one to be reckoned with as we get closer to the Kentucky Derby. He won the 1 1/16 mile test, collected the winner's share of the purse and the 10 qualification points toward the Kentucky Derby in May. Chitu finished a very good second in his stakes debut while Bob Baffert's 6-5 morning line favorite Midnight Hawk finished a somewhat disappointing third. Diamond Bachelor was fourth and was followed, in order, by Home Run Kitten, Cool Samurai, and El Nino Terrible.
