Fire With Fire Wins San Luis Rey Stakes at Santa Anita Park
Las Vegas, NV - The $200,000 Grade 2 San Luis Rey Stakes took place on Santa Anita turf in Arcadia, California on Saturday, March 22. Neil Drysdale trained Fire With Fire emerged victorious at 10-1 odds while stablemate Lucayan finished second at 3-1. Temeraine was third in the small field of five with Niagara Falls just coming up short. Unfortunately, the 4-5 favorite Vagabond Shoes was pulled up at the half mile pole and it was learned that he was euthanized after the race due to a cannon bone injury.
