Vagabond Shoes Wins San Marcos Stakes at Santa Anita Park
Las Vegas, NV - Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California was the scene of the $200,000 Grade 2 San Marcos Stakes on Saturday, February 8. Vagabond Shoes came up with the 1 1/4 length win over 19-1 shot Si Sage. Lucayan rallied from last to take third, a neck behind the runner-up. Segway finished fourth, but was disqualified and placed 10th for causing interference in the stretch that forced jockey Edwin Maldonado to take up Power Foot in the final strides. As a result of the disqualification, Dubai You X Y Z was placed fourth, followed by 7-2 second choice Jeranimo, Slim Shadey, Temeraine, Utopian, Power Foot, Segway, and Bio Pro.
