Las Vegas, NV - The $300,000 Grade 1 Awesome Again Stakes went down at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California this past Saturday, September 26 - a 1 1/8 mile dirt test for older horses. Lucky Charm Stable's 5-1 shot Smooth Roller was best on the day emerging by an impressive 5 1/4 lengths. In turn Smooth Roller earned an automatic spot in the Breeders' Cup Classic October 31. 5-2 second choice Hoppertunity finished second with 6-5 favorite Bayern getting in for third - Bayern was subsequently retired from racing after the event. Imperative closed from back in the pack to finish fourth, followed by Point Piper, Hard Aces, Sammy Mandeville, and Global View.
