Callback Wins Las Virgenes Stakes at Santa Anita Park
Las Vegas, NV - The $300,000 Grade 3 Las Virgenes Stakes went down at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California on Saturday, January 31 - a one mile test for three year old fillies. Bob Baffert trained Callback was best on the day in the longest race of her career - emerging in gate-to-wire fashion by a half length as the 5-2 second choice. A quartet of Jerry Hollendorfer trained fillies followed - 7-1 shot Light the City was second, Achiever's Legacy was third, Majestic Presence finished fourth and Lutine Belle was fifth. Then came Suva Harbor, Miss Mandate, 2-1 favorite Maybellene, and Mio Me. A fifth Hollendorfer entrant, Glory, was scratched.
