Arrogate Wins Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita Park
Santa Anita in Arcadia, California played host to the $6 million G1 Breeders' Cup Classic on Saturday, November 5 - the main event on a crazy weekend of racing. Some of the best horses three years old and upward took to Santa Anita's dirt track and raced 1 1/4 miles. Juddmonte Farms' up-and-coming three year old 8-5 second betting choice Arrogate made a huge statement when he chased down 2014 Horse of the Year and 4-5 race favorite California Chrome to win by a half-length. Arrogate is now firmly on the radar for Horse of the Year after this 13-length win in track record time in his stakes debut - the August 27 Travers at Saratoga. 32-1 shot Keen Ice finished third in the field of 10 while Hoppertunity, Melatonin, Frosted, Effinex, War Story and Win the Space completed the order of finish. Shaman Ghost scratched.
