Wild Dude Wins Kona Gold Stakes at Santa Anita Park
The $200,000 Grade 2 Kona Gold Stakes came our way this past Saturday, May 20 from Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. Horses three years old and upward took to Santa Anita's dirt track and raced 6 1/2 furlongs. Two-time grade I-winning sprinter Wild Dude was best on the day, winning the race by a length in the field of eight at 9-2 odds with overwhelming 4-5 favorite Subtle Indian getting in for second and 14-1 shot Cautious Giant claiming third. Coastline was fourth followed by Souper Knight, Sahara Sky, Dream Saturday and San Onofre who was vanned off after an awkward start and was unfortunately euthanized after the race. Cherubim and Kafister scratched.
