Songbird Wins Las Virgenes Stakes at Santa Anita Park
Las Vegas, NV - The $300,000 Grade 2 Las Virgenes Stakes went down at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California on Saturday, February 6 - a one mile dirt race for some of the best three year old fillies in the land. Fox Hill Farms' Songbird continued to dominate her division and proved why she was the overwhelming Eclipse Award winner for two year old females - this time prevailing by an easy 6 1/2 lengths as the overwhelming 1-9 favorite. Land Over Sea finished second in the field of six at 23-1 odds with 24-1 shot She's a Warrior another 3 3/4 lengths back. Merirosvo finished an even fourth, followed by Jade Princess and grade I winner Street Fancy, who was eased in the stretch. Decked Out scratched.
