Songbird Wins Santa Ysabel Stakes at Santa Anita Park
The $100,000 Grade 3 Santa Ysabel Stakes was contested Saturday, March 3 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California - a 1 3/16 miles dirt race for three year old fillies. To absolutely nobody's surprise, reigning Eclipse Award winner and overwhelming 1-9 race favorite Songbird remained unbeaten in her career and dominated the field of nine. 13-1 second choice Land Over Sea was no match but finished second, 3 3/4 lengths back while Mokat, who closed from seventh finished third at 42-1 odds. Jade Princess looked good early but faded for fourth while Pageant Material, Merirosvo, Code Warrior, My Dynamo and Not Now Carolyn completed the order of finish. Street Fancy scratched.
