Wild At Heart Wins Buena Vista Stakes at Santa Anita Park
Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California played host to the $200,000 G2 Buena Vista Stakes on Saturday, February 18. Fillies and mares four years old and upward took to Santa Anita's dirt track (after it was moved from turf) and raced one mile. Richard Mandella-trained 3-2 race favorite Wild At Heart took advantage of the change of tracks and easily prevailed in the slop - by 3 1/2 lengths over 7-2 third choice Lily Pod who finished second and Hillhouse High who got in for a good third at 5-1 odds. Jeremy's Legacy finished fourth in the field that was trimmed to just five with 9-5 second choice Mokat completing the order of finish. Do the Dance, Evo Campo, Illuminant, Juno, Pretty Girl, and Prize Exhibit all scratched due to the change of surface and ultimately the stormy conditions in Southern California.
