$1M Woodbine Mile at Woodbine Race Course

Las Vegas, NV -- An automatic spot in the Breeders' Cup Mile is on the line this Sunday as 12 horses will look to win the $1 million Woodbine Mile at Woodbine Race Course in Toronto. Courageous Cat is the 3-1 morning line horse betting favorite in the field of 12.

Courageous Cat will go from post #4 and be ridden by Patrick Valenzuela for trainer Bill Mott. Courageous Cat has six wins in 13 career starts including two this year in the Poker Stakes at Belmont Park as the 4-5 favorite and the Shoemaker Mile at Hollywood Park at even money. "They were both good races," Mott said. "The Poker was very good, and he came back on short rest and ran very well in the Shoemaker."

The field for the Woodbine Mile is extremely competitive as almost every horse in the field has a chance to win including two Britain invaders, Side Glance and Dance and Dance who are 4-1 and 6-1 respectively. Also at single-digits in the morning line odds are Turallure who is the 5-1 third choice while Right One and Grand Adventure are 8-1.

The defending champion of the Woodbine Mile is Court Vision, and he is the seventh choice on the morning line at 10-1. Court Vision will start from the outside for trainer Dale Romans and be ridden by Ramon Dominguez. Court Vision was recently purchased by Spendthrift Farm. "He's a very good looking horse with a great deal of ability, and he's also very sound and very versatile, proven on dirt and turf," said Ned Toffey, Spendthrift Farm general manager. "His pedigree is just tremendous, and we felt that he's really a pretty complete package. He will race through the end of the year and then retire." Court Vision has not won a race since winning the Woodbine Mile last year. In his 29 career starts he has eight wins. Post time for Sunday's Woodbine Mile is scheduled for 5:42 p.m. Eastern Time.
