Las Vegas, NV - The 68th running of the Grade 3 Discovery Handicap goes down this Saturday, November 17 from Aqueduct Raceway in the great state of New York. Three year olds will go 1 1/8 miles on Aqueduct's main track in search of their share of the $150,000 purse.
The Discovery has attracted a small field of 6 for race 8 on Aqueduct's Saturday card. Post time is 3:43 PM. Here is a look at the past performances of all six combatants and what brought them to this Grade 3 race.
Willy Beamin - enters the Discovery looking to rebound from a respectable second to Politicallycorrect last time out in the Oklahoma Derby after six, count `em six straight wins including the Grade 1 King's Bishop at Saratoga in August in his graded stakes debut. Prior to that race were two minor stakes wins in New York and a host of Allowance races. Willy Beamin hasn't been used to losing and is the 7-5 morning line favorite for good reason.
Our Entourage - has been up and down in nine start this year with three wins and a second to go along with a pair of sixths, a pair of fifths and a seventh last time out in the minor Montserrat Stakes here November 4. Before his most recent disappointment things were looking up for Our Entourage - two straight wins including the Temperence Hill Stakes at Belmont Park October 21 and an Allowance Optional Claiming score at Parx two weeks before that.
Stephanoatsee - has two wins and a second in 2012 and has won two of his last three starts including the minor Barbaro Stakes at Delaware Park last time out October 20 and an Allowance Optional Claiming three back on that same track. Sandwiched in there is a respectable fourth in the Grade 2 Pennsylvania derby at Parx September 22.
