Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Turn Back The Alarm Handicap is on tap for this Saturday, October 27 from Belmont Park. Fillies and mares three years old and upward will be featured in a race that covers 1 1/16 miles on Belmont Park dirt track for a purse of $150,000.
The Turn Back the Alarm has attracted a field of eight females for race 8 on Belmont Park's closing Saturday card. Post time is 4:34 PM. Let's take a look into the past performances of all eight combatants and what brought them to this Grade 3 race.
Arena Elvira - Bill Mott trained mare is a multiple graded stakes winner that won five straight races including the 2011 version of this race and the Grade 2 Falls City Handicap before a decent third last time out in the Grade 3 Sixty Sails Handicap at Hawthorne. She has raced only twice in 2012 but is the morning line favorite and rightfully so.
Afleeting Lady - Dale Romans trained Afleeting Lady finished 2011 off with a very good second in the Grade 2 Falls City Handicap at Churchill Downs but started 2012 with a disappointing fifth in the Grade 2 La Troienne. Since that result, she has won an Allowance Optional Claiming, finished a very good second in the Grade 2 Fleur de Lis Handicap and followed that with a disappointing sixth in the Grade 2 Molly Pitcher July 29. Last time out she rebounded with a win in the minor Lady's Secret Stakes September 3.
Go Unbridled - graded stakes placed and multiple stakes winner Go Unbridled won the minor Saratoga Dew Stakes on August 27 to follow a pair of fifths in a couple of other minor stakes races - the Fleet Indian and Endear Stakes in the state of New York. She finished third last time out in the Grade 1 Beldame here September 29 and should be on the radar for the Turn back the Alarm as the defending third place finisher in this race.
R Gypsy Gold - Todd Pletcher trained filly has won three of her last seven starts including the Endear Stakes at Belmont on July 4 and the Real Prize Stakes in October. She finished a decent third behind the likes of Brushed by a Star in the Molly Pitcher July 29 but was sixth last time out in the Grade 1 Personal Ensign. R Gypsy Gold has four wins, two seconds and four third place finishes in 14 career starts and enters this weekend in so-so form.

Maristar - had a couple of good results in 2011 - a second in the Grade 3 Washington Park Handicap in September and a third to end 2011 in the Grade 2 Chilukki Stakes at Churchill Downs in November but has been disappointing in four starts this year - a fourth last time out in the Grade 1 Beldame here followed a seventh in the Grade 2 Ontario Matron Stakes July 22, a fourth in the Trillium Stakes and a sixth in the La Troienne Stakes at Churchill Downs in May.
Nefertini - has been good in 2012 winning three of five starts including the Monmouth Beach Stakes on May 27. Her other wins this year were Allowance Optional Claiming races. Last time out was a fourth in the Grade 2 Molly Pitcher in her first really competitive race.
Catch a Thief - multiple graded staked placed Catch a Thief had a very nice second place finish in the Bed o' Roses Stakes at Belmont on July 1 to follow a decent third in the Grade 3 Distaff Stakes at Pimlico and a win in the minor Plugged Nickel Stakes at Aqueduct. Last time out was a distant eighth in the Grade 2 Molly Pitcher at Monmouth back on July 29. Catch a Thief has placed in four of her last six starts and will be looking to rebound from an ugly performance last time out.
All Due Respect - ended 2011 with three straight placings including a win, a second and a third place finish but 2012 has been a tad disappointing - a third to start the year in the Ocala Stakes was followed by an eighth in an Allowance Optional Claiming and a sixth in the Voodoo Dancer Stakes on July 8. Her last two results have been better however - a third in the Grade 1 Ballerina Stakes two back was followed by a second last time out in the minor Nasty Storm Stakes here September 20.
