Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Cougar II Handicap comes our way from Del Mar in Southern California this Friday July 27th. Horses three years old and upward will race 1 1/2 miles on Del Mar's All Weather track in search of their share of the $100,000 purse.
A quality field of six has been confirmed for the Cougar II Handicap - it is race 7 on Del Mar's Friday schedule. Post time is 7:00 PM. Here is a look at the six quality entries and their results ahead of this Grade 3 race.
Richard's Kid - Bob Baffert trained Richard's Kid is a three time Grade 1 winner who finished second last time out to Game On Dude in the Grade 1 Hollywood Gold Cup on July 7th to follow a 7 1/4 length win in the minor Prove It Stakes on the same track. Before that was a fourth in the Grade 2 Godolphin Mile and a fifth on the same Meydan Racecourse overseas. In 2010 before shipping overseas Richard's Kid had two straight wins in Grade 1 races in the States. The two American starts this year prove that Richard's Kid may be back and ready to contend once again.
Dynamic Host - Dynamic Host had a pair of third place finished in two Allowance Optional Claiming races to start his year but won the Grade 3 Tokyo up Stakes in upset fashion on March 23rd. Since then has been a pair of minor stakes races - a fourth in the Round Table Stakes and a second lat time out in the Prove It Stakes behind Richard's Kid - both races at Hollywood Park. Dynamic Host has placed in six of eight races since changing ownership and has to be on the radar this Friday.
Fly Lexis Fly - is a two time Peruvian classic winner - two wins in a row coming into an American debut. Not a whole lot is known about Fly Lexis Fly except that success is nothing new to this horse.
Romp - Eight year old gelding has a whopping 51 career starts with just four wins. Since an Allowance score in October 2010, Romp has yet to find the winner's circle. In fact he has just two third place finishes and a second in ten starts since - one of the thirds was an Optional Claimer race June 16th at 23-1 odds and the second happened last time out - an impressive result in the Grade 3 Sunset Handicap on July 15th.

Balladry - has raced in graded stakes action twice and had a second in the Grade 2 San Fernando Stakes at Santa Anita on January 14th prior to an OK fifth in the Grade 2 Strub Stakes. He won an Allowance at Hollywood Park on April 29th and followed it up with a third last time out in the Prove It Stakes at Hollywood Park on June 8th.
