Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Kent Stakes is on tap for this Saturday, September 22 from Delaware Park in Wilmington Delaware. $200,000 will be on the line Saturday when three year olds line up to go one and one eighth miles on Delaware Park's turf track.
A field of 11 three year olds will line up in the Kent Stakes Saturday. It will go as race 7 on Delaware Park's Saturday card with a post time of 4:15 PM. Let's take a glance into the past performances of all 11 entries and what brought them to this Grade 3 event.
Cozzetti - has seven starts in 2012 with just one impressive win in the Grade 3 American Derby at Arlington Park on July 14, one second in the Oliver Stakes at Indiana Downs in June and one third place finish in the Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby to show for it. Last time out was a disappointing sixth in the Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes for trainer Dale Roams who hopes that his colt can return to the American Derby form on Saturday.
Miami Cat - has just six career starts with three wins and a second place finish. Saturday marks his graded stakes debut after a win last time out in the minor Equalize Stakes at Saratoga August 30. Before that win was a couple of pedestrian results however - a fourth in a Starter Optional Claiming at Saratoga and a sixth in the Mambo Meister Stakes at Calder in May. The Kent is a huge step up in competition but his win last time out should serve Miami Cat well ahead of his graded stakes debut.
Lucky Chappy - had a couple of good results under his belt in Grade 3 events in North America after starting his career in Europe - a third in the Grade 3 Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland in October and a second in the Grade 3 El Camino Real Derby at Golden Gate in February. Lucky Chappy raced March 31 - a seventh in the Grade 2 U.A.E Derby at Meydan Racecourse before returning to North America where he has a second in the Grade 2 Virginia Derby on July 21 and a third last time out in the Grade 3 Saranac Stakes at Saratoga three weeks ago. He is a sneaky entry for the Kent and could emerge victorious based on his recent results.
Optimizer - finished eleventh in the Kentucky Derby, sixth in the Preakness and tenth in the Belmont Stakes and finished the fourth in the Grade 2 Virginia Derby after that. Since then has been mixed results - an Allowance Optional Claiming score last time out at Saratoga on August 25 followed a fifth in the Grade 2 Hall of Fame Stakes on August 10. Optimizer has raced against the best - hopes are that experience will propel him to victory on Saturday.

Star Cannel - Todd Pletcher trained colt enters off a third in the Restoration Stakes last time out and a fourth in the Duluth Stakes before that. His graded stakes experience this year has resulted in a thirteenth in the Grade 2 American Turf May 4 and a seventh in the Grade 3 Hill Prince June 16.
Unbroken - has two wins and two seconds in his last four starts including a second last time out in the Restoration Stakes. Saturday marks Unbroken's graded stakes debut after two wins and three seconds in seven career starts.
King Kreesa - has three wins and two seconds in seven career starts. Last time out was a respectable fourth in the Grade 3 Saranac Stakes to follow a second in the New York Stallion Series Stakes at Saratoga August 8. He won the London Company Stakes here on June 29 to prove that he has the winning touch.
Excaper - multiple graded stakes placed colt finished second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile turf last year and has placed in four of five races since - a fifth last time out in the Grade 3 Saranac being the only blemish.
Twilight Eclipse - has only three career starts with two wins in his first two. Last time out was a distant sixth however in the Equalize Stakes at Saratoga August 30.
Two Months Rent - has seven starts this year and is coming off a third last time out in the Capital City Stakes last time out, a disappointing eighth in the Grade 2 Virginia Derby and a win in an Allowance race at Delaware Park on June 7. He has just two wins in 12 career starts with one second and three third place finishes.
