Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 1 CashCall Futurity goes down this Saturday, December 15 from Betfair Hollywood Park. Two year old males will go 1 1/16 miles on Hollywood Park's synthetic track as they chase the winner's portion of the very nice $750,000 purse. Not only is a very nice winner's check on the line, but so too are valuable points on this year's "Road to the Kentucky Derby".
11 juveniles will line up in the CashCall which is race 9 on Hollywood Park's Saturday schedule. Post time is 4:35 PM. Let's take a look at the credentials of all 11 entries and what brought them to this most important and last Grade 1 "Road to the Kentucky Derby" points race of 2012.
He's Had Enough - comes from the same team camp as I'll Have Another. He won a Maiden Special Weight in his debut August 12 but followed that with a disappointing sixth in the Oak Tree Juvenile Turf Stakes at Del Mar September 5. He had an ugly eleventh in the Grade 1 Dixiana Breeders' Futurity on October 6 but followed that with a very nice second by a head at 20-1 odds behind Shanghai Bobby in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile last time out. He's a bit tough to figure out but based on his result in the Breeders' Cup has to be considered for the CashCall.
Violence - Todd Pletcher trained colt has two wins in two career starts including the Grade 2 Nashua Stakes by two lengths over Vegas No Show last time out at Hollywood Park November 4 and a Maiden Special Weight score in his debut at Saratoga August 18. He has an incredible pedigree and should be in the hunt Saturday.
Really Mr Greeley - is one of four Bob Baffert trained colts entered in the CashCall. He is coming off two straight wins after a fourth in his career debut. Those wins include a Maiden Claiming at Santa Anita November 4 and in the Grade 3 Hollywood Prevue Stakes at 11-1 odds last time out November 22. He had a 98 Beyer speed figure in the Hollywood Prevue - the best of any of the entries in this year's CashCall. He has never been past seven furlongs but should also be considered a strong contender this weekend.
Den's Legacy - is another Bob Baffert trained colt that was second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint Preview Stakes November 3. He followed that with an impressive win last time out in the Grade 3 Generous Stakes on turf here November 24. He also had a second in the Zuma Beach Stakes in October. He has seven career starts with two wins and three second place finishes and enters the CashCall as the most experienced of the entries although his last three starts have been on grass.
Carving - the third Bob Baffert pupil in the CashCall has four career starts with three wins - the lone blemish coming two back in his graded stakes debut - a fourth at the Grade 1 FrontRunner Stakes in September at Santa Anita. He has two minor stakes wins under his belt - the Real Quiet last time out here November 10 and the C.B. Afflerbaugh Stakes at Fairplex Park September 12 so we now that Carving can produce against top competition.
