Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 1 Gamely Stakes comes our way Memorial Day, Monday May 28th, from Betfair Hollywood Park. Fillies and mare three years old and upward will be featured as they go 1 1/8 miles on Hollywood Park's turf track for their share of the $250,000 purse.
A very strong field of eight are slated for the Main Event on Hollywood Park's Holiday Monday card. It is race 9 on the card with a post time of 5:11 PM. Here is a breakdown of the eight participants and the recent performances that brought them to this Grade 1 event.
Capital Plan - broke through in a big way in her stakes debut with a win in the Grade 2 Santa Barbara Handicap after a pair of seconds in Allowance races before that. She is cutting back in distance for the Gamely which could be a huge factor.
Quiet Oasis - made her 2012 debut with an impressive win in the Grade 3 Wilshire Handicap last time out after a win in an Allowance in October and a sixth in November in the Grade 1 Matriarch Stake. Quiet Oasis has won two out of three races and has the same team as I'll Have Another backing her. Momentum just may be enough!
City to City - is a multiple Grade 2 winner who won the competitive Grade 2 Buena Vista Stakes before a rough patch saw her finish fourth in the Grade 2 Santa Ana Stakes and a disappointing seventh most recently in the Grade 2 Churchill Distaff Turf Mile Stakes. If City to City can somehow find her form, she could be dangerous.
Cambina - won the Grade 1 American Oaks Stakes last July but hasn't been the same since. An impressive second last time out in the Grade 2 Santa Barbara Handicap was the only real result in a while - a sixth in the Santa Ana Stakes a fifth in the Grade 2 Buena Vista Handicap and an eighth place finish at the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf. Was Cambina's Santa Barbara performance a sign of things to come?

Nereid - has placed in six of her seven career starts - last time out was the exception with a fourth in the Grade 3 Wilshire Handicap on April 29th. She has three wins including an impressive score at the Grade 1 American Oaks Stakes in July. Since that victory she has raced to two third place finishes - the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks in August and the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes in October at Keeneland. Nereid has fared very well at Hollywood Park however.
Wild Mia - most recently finished a disappointing fifth in the Wilshire Handicap after an impressive second in the Grade 2 Santa Ana Stakes on March 25th. Wild Mia had a sting of three straight placings in graded stakes races snapped in the Wilshire - she is competitive.
Belle Royale - is on a very impressive four race win streak including her American debut - the American Beauty Stakes last time out on April 7th. Belle Royale has yet to start a graded stakes race but is certainly one to keep an eye on.
Bauble Queen - had a very impressive win at the Grade 2 Robert J. Frankel Stakes on January 1st but hasn't been the same since. After a productive 2011 campaign her 2012 starts since New Year's Day have resulted in a ninth at the Santa Ana Stakes and a fifth at the Santa Barbara Handicap.
Race 9 on Hollywood Park's Monday card with a Post Time of 5:11 PM.
