2012 Hollywood Turf Cup Race Favorites

Grandeur - three year old Irish bred gelding made his North American debut with an impressive win in the Grade 2 Twilight Derby at Santa Anita November 2 and followed that up with another very good result - a second as favorite in the Grade 1 Hollywood Derby behind Unbridled Command last time out here November 25. He has won three of his last five starts and is firmly in the Hollywood Turf Cup radar and has a win and a second in his only two North American starts after a good career overseas.

Bourbon Bay - Bourbon Bay comes into the Hollywood Turf Cup off a disappointing eighth in the Grade 2 John Henry Turf after a two race win streak - the Grade 2 San Juan Capistrano Handicap here in April and the Grade 2 San Luis Rey here in March. Bourbon Bay hadn't raced in five months prior to the John Henry but was in the best form of his career before the layoff. He has nine career wins in 27 starts and two wins in four starts in 2012. Bourbon Bay finished second in this race last year and will be looking to better that performance this year on a course that he has yet to claim victory on but has finished second or third in five of six starts.
