Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Jersey Shores Stakes comes our way from Monmouth Park this Saturday, July 14th. Three year olds will dash six furlongs on Monmouth's main dirt track in search of their share of the $100,000 purse.
The Jersey Shore Stakes has attracted a competitive field of six for race 10 on Monmouth Park's Saturday schedule. Post time is 5:17 PM. Here is a look at the six combatants and the recent results that brought them to this six furlong Grade 3 race.
Isn't He Clever - started his 2012 campaign with a decent fourth in the Grade 2 Robert B. Lewis Stakes and then went on to win the Borderland Derby. In March Isn't He Clever continued to look fine with a second in the Grade 3 Sunland Derby but he struggled in his last two races - an eighth place finish in the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby was followed by a seventh last time out in the Grade 2 Woody Stephens Stakes. This is a tough horse to figure out but being the lone stakes winner in the field he has to be considered the favorite.
Cape Cod Canal - has just two career starts with a win last time out by 8 ½ lengths in a Maiden Special Weight race at here on June 23rd to follow a second place finish in a similar race here on June 2nd.
Wildcat Creek - is coming off an Allowance score here on June 24th to follow up a second and a third place finish in the last couple of months in similar races. The will be Wildcat Creek's second graded stakes try - the first resulted in an unflattering fourth in a field of five in the Grade 2 Hutcheson at Gulfstream in February - a result that follows decent seconds in the minor Pasco and Inaugural Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs.
