Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 2 Monmouth Stakes comes our way this Sunday, June 10th from Monmouth Park on the Jersey Shore. Horses three years old and upward will go 1 1/8 miles on Monmouth's turf track in search of their share of the $200,000 purse. The Monmouth Stakes is an important prep race for those looking to contest the $500,000 Grade 1 United Nations Stakes here on July 7th.
A very competitive field of eight horses will go in race 10 on Monmouth's Sunday card. Post time is 5:17 PM. There is a pretty good field in this one - Get Stormy and Data Link continue their rivalry while former winners of this event Get Serious and Presious Passion look to claim the prize for the second time.
Get Stormy - In 2011 Get Stormy won the Grade 1 Churchill's Turf Classic, and finished second twice and third twice out of eight starts. But sandwiched between impressive results is a terribly disappointing 12th at the TVG Breeders' Cup Mile in November. He won the Maker's Mark Mile last year as well. 2012 it has been a different story. He won the Grade 1 Gulfstream Park Handicap but followed it up with a fourth in the Grade 1 Maker's Mile and a disappointing ninth in the Turf Classic Stakes last time out on Kentucky Derby Day. Get Stormy has the talent but isn't in the best form at the moment.
Data Link - finished a respectable third in the Grade 3 Canadian Turf Stakes at Gulfstream on March 3rd in his graded stakes debut went on to win the Makers 46 Mile in impressive fashion. Last time out Data Link was fifth in the Turf Classic Stakes at Churchill Downs. He has five wins in 11 career races and he will have John Velazquez in the saddle for the first time.
Presious Passion - is a multiple Grade 1 winner but also has a stunning 51 career starts. After a great 2009 season that saw wins at the Monmouth and the Grade 1 Clement Hirsch Memorial Turf Championship Presious Passion hasn't been the same. The gelding has not placed in her last six starts and is coming off a fifth and seventh respectively in the last two minor stakes starts.
Get Serious - won this race in 2010 during an incredible streak of seven wins in nine starts. The last three starts have all resulted in sixth place finishes however. One thing that Get Serious has going is the fact for the last three years the gelding has raced exclusively at Monmouth.

Roman Tiger - has won two straight heading into this race - the Grade 3 Tampa Bay Stakes in impressive fashion and the Turf Classic Stakes at Tampa Bay last time out. She has 4 wins in 25 career starts - those two included. It is safe to say that Roman Tiger is in the best form of her career.
Freud's Honour - will be making his graded stakes debut after mixed results in minor stakes races. His only start in eight months resulted in a fourth place finish in an Allowance Optional Claiming in this track May 20th.
Yummy With Butter - finished second at the Ft. Lauderdale January 14th but was moved down to 6th because of interference. Since then, Yummy With Butter has been OK - a fourth in the Grade 1 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap and a fourth last time out in the Miami Mile Handicap at Calder on April 21.
Mahubo - has placed in the last five starts including a win last time out in the Three Coins Up Stakes at Aqueduct on April 13th. The Monmouth Stakes is a big step up in competition however.
Race 10 on Monmouth Park's Sunday card with a Post Time of 5:17 PM.
