Las Vegas, NV - Another weekend of graded stakes action is in the books - races took place all over North America this weekend with the biggest races taking place at Woodbine just outside of Toronto. Here is a breakdown of what took place in a few of the races at Keeneland, Hawthorne, Belmont Park and Calder - starting with the two huge events at Woodbine on Sunday.
French raider Siyouma, off an impressive homestretch run won the Grade 1 $1 million E. P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine Sunday in her North American debut and in turn earned an automatic berth into the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare turf. Sent off as a slight 5-2 favorite Siyouma outraced another filly making her North American debut French bred Pagera. 3-1 second choice Irish bred Dream Peace finished third.

In the Grade 1 $1.5 million Pattison Canadian International at Woodbine Sunday Joshua Tree repelled his challengers to win the Canadian International for the second time in three years. Joshua Tree at odds of 4-1 in the field of 10 and completed the 1 1/2-mile journey in 2:30.89 over a good turf course. Dandino, making his first North American start for trainer James Fanshawe, finished second with the Roger Attfield-trained Forte Dei Marmi settling for third.

36-1 third longest shot Moonwalk earned a hard-fought nose victory over Kitten's Point in the Grade 3 JPMorgan Chase Jessamine Stakes Thursday, Oct. 11 at Keeneland and in turn earned a berth into the Breeders' Cup Fillies Turf. Moonwalk completed the Jessamine in 1:45.17 while Kitten's Point was a very game second, a head clear of third place finisher Bona Venture Stables' Summer of Fun. Always Kitten, favored at 5-2, was in contention in mid-pack on the turn but faded to 10th.

Center Court finished second in the race and Better Lucky came third. 2-1 favorite Stephanie's Kitten finished a disappointing fifth.

Two Months Rent emerged from the pack at mid-stretch to chase down Film Shot in the final yards for a head victory at 20-1 odds in the mud at the Grade 3 $200,000 Hawthorne Derby at Hawthorne on Saturday for his first stakes win. 10-1 shot Film Shot was a game second and 3-1 favorite Lea finished third.

Phipps Stable's Boisterous rallied boldly to the lead in the mid-stretch and drew clear to two-length decision in a repeat victory in Saturday's Grade 3, $150,000 Knickerbocker Stakes at Belmont Park as the even money favorite. A couple of long shots did very well to place - See Tobe finished second at 22-1 odds and Tune Me In at 26-1 was third.

In the $100,000 Grade 3 Spend A Buck Handicap at Calder, local hero and 2-5 favorite Cash Rules held off a late charge after tiring for his first graded stakes win. Ducduc did all that he could but was three parts of a length back at the wire for a game second while Flatter This came from last to finish third.
