Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Withers Stakes comes our way this Saturday, February 2 from Aqueduct in the great state of New York. Three year olds will be after some much needed qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby in May as well as their share of the $200,000 purse when they go 1/16 miles on Aqueduct's inner track.
A field of eight Kentucky Derby hopefuls will line up in the Withers Stakes - race 9 on Aqueduct`s Saturday card. Post time is 4:18 PM. Here is a look at the past performances of all eight combatants ahead of this most important Derby points race.
Revolutionary - highly regarded Todd Pletcher trained colt races in stakes company for the first time Saturday having recorded a win, a second and two third place finishes in four career Maiden Special Weight races - last time out was an 8 1/2 length win over Transparent on this track December 28 over 1 mile.
Siete de Oros - has five career starts with two wins (a Maiden Claiming and an Allowance at Parx), a second which came last time out in the Grade 2 Jerome Stakes at 41-1 odds here January 5 behind Vyjack who will race in the Grade 3 Gotham Stakes March 3 and a third place finish in the minor Pennsylvania Nursery Stakes at Parx December 8. Siete de Oros has placed in his last four starts and with a second and a third respectively in stakes races; he is one to keep an eye on in the Withers.
Long River - Kiaran McLaughlin trained colt broke maiden two back by 3/4 of a length on this track after a seventh in his debut and a second place finish in his second career start. Last time out was a fourth behind Siete de Oros and Amerigo Vespucci in the Jerome Stakes here a month ago after getting caught in traffic.
Valid - another Kiaran McLaughlin trained colt broke maiden last time out by 3 3/4 lengths in his second career start at Laurel Park December 31 after a ninth in his debut at this track November 10 in a race that Jerome Stakes winner Vyjack ran away with.

Smooth Bert - has five career starts with two wins, a second and a third place finish. Last time out was a nice win in the minor Damon Runyon Stakes here December 9 after his worst career performance - a fifth in the Bertram F. Bongard Stakes at Belmont Park October 20.
Amerigo Vespucci - won his first two career starts and finished second in his next two including the minor Marylander Stakes after a second in the James Lewis III Stakes. Last time out was a respectable third behind Siete de Oros in the Grade 2 Jerome on this track January 5. He has the pedigree and the distance to contend here and will add blinkers for the Withers.
Escapefromreality - has just two career starts with a maiden score by 3 1/2 lengths in his debut and a second in an Allowance December 28 - both results coming on this track.
Champion Boy - has just one career start for trainer Juan Carlos Guerrero - a third place finish in a MSW race on this track January 20.
