Las Vegas, NV - Belmont Park in Elmont, New York will be a busy place this Monday, May 27. The trio of Grade 1 races on the schedule includes the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps Handicap, a 1 1/16 mile test for fillies and mares three years old and upward. A nice purse of $400,000 will be on the line for those lining up Monday.
The Ogden Phipps has attracted a small but quality field of six ladies for race 8 on Belmont Park's Holiday Monday card. Post time is 4:45 PM. Here is a brief glance into the credentials of all six combatants ahead of this Grade 1 stakes.
Joyful Victory - In nine starts since January 2012 Joyful Victory has been at or near the top of every race she has entered for trainer Larry Jones. This year she has two starts and two wins - last time out in the Grade 1 Santa Margarita Stakes at Santa Anita March 16 and at the minor Houston Ladies Classic at Sam Houston January 26. She ended her 2012 campaign with three second place finishes and two thirds - all graded stakes races. She has placed in all 11 starts in the last two years and is the 7-5 morning line favorite for Monday's race despite never recording a win at Belmont.
Authenticity - Todd Pletcher trained mare made her stakes debut two back and finished a good second in the Grade 3 Rampart Stakes behind Ciao Bella at Gulfstream March 30 after two wins, a second and a third place finish in five career starts - the only out-of-the-money finish came in her debut. Last time out was a true breakthrough performance - a win in the Grade 2 La Troienne Stakes at Churchill Downs May 3. She is the morning line second choice at 3-1 odds.
Believe You Can - has won three of five starts including the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks in impressive fashion last April 5 to follow up a win in the Grade 2 Fair Grounds Oaks last March 31. After an OK third in the Grade 1 Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park in June she was forced to the sidelines for six months. She returned in February to a win in the minor Tiffany Lass Stakes and followed that with another win in the New Orleans Ladies Stakes at Fair Grounds March 9. Last time out was an OK third in the Grade 2 La Troienne Stakes at Churchill Downs behind Authenticity May 3.

Centring - has nine career starts for trainer Thomas Albertini with two wins and four second place finishes. Her only stakes action came in November - a fifth in the Grade 3 La Prevoyante Handicap at Calder.
