Las Vegas, NV - The Grade 3 Robert G. Dick Memorial Stakes comes our way this Saturday, July 13 from Delaware Park in Stanton, Delaware. The race will feature fillies and mares three years old and upward as they chase the winner's share of the $200,000 purse over 1 3/8 miles on Delaware Park's turf track.
A field of 10 females will line up in the Robert G. Dick Memorial - race 9 on Delaware Park's Saturday schedule. Post time is 5:15 PM. Let's take a brief look into the credentials of all 10 combatants for this Grade 3 stakes.
Tannery - made her North American debut in the Grade 1 Garden City Stakes at Belmont Park September 15 and finished a very respectable third. She followed that with a distant eighth in the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup at Keeneland October 13 and ended 2012 with a fourth in the Grade 3 Long Island Handicap in November. She has raced three times in 2013 - a fourth in the minor Owsley Stakes May 1 but followed that with her best career performance - a win in the Grade 2 Sheepshead Bay Stakes at Belmont Park May 25. Last time out was a colossal letdown - an eighth in the Grade 2 New York Stakes June 29. She is terrific on soft ground and that is what is expected Saturday and will enter as the highweight for Saturday's race.
Laughing - had two straight wins in Europe before shipping to North America where she was seventh in her debut here in the Grade 1 E.P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine in October 2011. She won two races in 2012 - an Allowance Optional Claiming at Aqueduct in April was followed by an OK third in the Grade 3 Gallorette Handicap at Pimlico in May and an impressive win as favorite in the Grade 3 Matchmaker Stakes on July 29. She then raced to an eighth in the Grade 3 Canadian Stakes in September, a third in the Grade 3 Athenia Stakes in October. She ended with a second to Silver Screamer in the minor Lady Baltimore Stakes October 27 and in her only start of 2013 she won the Grade 3 Eatontown Handicap over Dayatthespa at Monmouth Park June 29. She has been in the money in six of her last seven starts overall and is the second highweight for the Robert G. Dick.
Treasured Up - has 12 career starts with four wins, a second and three third place finishes - two of those wins coming in her last three starts - the minor Keertana Stakes at Churchill Downs over Qushchi in May and Allowance Optional Claiming in March. She also had a third in the Grade 3 Regret Stakes at Churchill Downs in June. But she has also recorded a sixth in the Grade 3 Arlington Oaks and a fourth in the Grade 3 Pucker Up Stakes along the way. She displayed terrific form in the Keertana and it wouldn't be a surprise to see Treasured Up emerge victorious this week as well.
Aigue Marine - Christophe Clement trained, British bred filly races for the first time since March 30 - a disappointing seventh in the Grade 3 Orchid Stakes at Gulfstream. She made her North American debut three back with a respectable third in the Grade 3 Long Island Handicap at Aqueduct in November and followed that with an Allowance Optional Claiming score March 7. She had two wins, two seconds and two thirds in seven starts at home. Aigue Marine is seen as just another formidable contender in this wide open field.
Qushchi - H. Graham Motion trained British-bred mare has 21 starts overseas with three wins, two seconds and three third place finishes before debuting in North America March 7. She finished third and second in a pair of Allowance Optional Claiming races at Gulfstream and followed that with an OK third in her North American stakes debut - the Grade 3 Bewitch Stakes at Keeneland in April. Last time out was a respectable second in the minor Keertana Stakes at Churchill Downs May 18.

Angel Terrace - made her stakes debut and finished fourth in the Nani Rose Stakes behind Alaura Michele. She went on to win the Grade 3 Pin Oak Valley View Stakes at Keeneland in October. She has two starts this year - a seventh and a second respectively in a pair of Allowance races - the second coming last time out on this track. She is another that has shown great form in the past and could do so again this weekend.
Valliant Girl - H. Graham Motion trained British bred filly had five starts overseas with just one win before shipping to North America. She has raced four times in the States and has a win, a second and a pair of fourths in Allowance races all over the Eastern seaboard.
Clare Skies Ahead - finished second in the 2012 All Along Stakes at 16-1 odds for her best result in some time and most recently finished third in the 2013 version. She won the minor Omnibus Stakes at Monmouth Park in August but registered just a pair of fifths with a ninth sandwiched in there since that win. She also had a fifth at the minor Miss Liberty Stakes at Monmouth Park May 26 after seven months off.
Game Fair - Ended 2012 with a pair of Allowance Optional Claiming scores but 2013 has been different - a pair of eighths in Grade 3 races - the Orchid Stakes in March, The Very One Stakes in February and an eighth in the minor Keertana Stakes in May. Last time out was a third in an Allowance here June 15.
Explainable - races in stakes company for the first time Saturday. Her last three results have been decent - a pair of seconds and a win in Allowance races this year. Saturday marks a huge step up in competition but her recent results suggests she may be ready for the big stage.
Race 9 on Delaware Park's Saturday card with a Post Time of 5:15 PM.
