Las Vegas, NV - Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, Florida is the scene of a trio of graded stakes races Saturday, February 23 - the first being the Grade 2 Davona Dale Stakes for three year old fillies. $250,000 and some valuable qualifying points on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks is on the line for those willing to go 1 1/16 miles on Gulfstream's main track.
A small but quality field of five has been confirmed for the Davona Dale - race 9 on Gulfstream's packed Saturday card. Post time is 4:35 PM. Here is a look into the past performances of all five entries ahead of this Grade 2 race.
Dreaming of Julia - Todd Pletcher filly entered the Breeders' Cup in November having started three career races and winning all - a win on August 6 by an astounding 10 1/2 lengths at Saratoga was followed by an equally impressive 16 1/4 length score in the Meadow Star Classic on September 9. She was impressive in winning the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes at Belmont October 6 before an OK third last time out in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies - her only career blemish. She makes her seasonal debut Saturday hoping to erase memory of her worst career result - that decent third last time out.
Lady Banks - is a stakes winner - the Ruthless Stakes last time out at Aqueduct January 12 followed a MSW score on that same track December 14. She debuted in November - a second in a MSW at Aqueduct. As the only other stakes place entry in the field, Lady Banks, on paper should be the one to give Dreaming of Julia a run.
Live Lively - races in stakes company for the first time for trainer Mark Hennig. She enters having won two of three starts - an Allowance Optional Claiming by 11 1/4 lengths here January 1 followed a MSW score over Lady Banks November 23 at Aqueduct. In her first career start she was third in a MSW at Belmont Park back in June. Saturday marks a huge step up in competition but two straight wins has her ready for her stakes debut.

Private Ensign - Dale Romans trained filly has just three career starts but has won her last two - an Allowance Optional Claiming last time out here January 25 and a maiden score before that on this track December 26. Her debut was a second in a MSW at Churchill Downs November 24.
Twice Told Tale - her credentials are almost a carbon copy of Live Lively - two straight wins after a third place finish in her debut. She is the long shot but in a small field could surprise and garner a few of the valuable qualifying points for the upcoming Kentucky Oaks.
